Greens: R3- Restless husband
What happens when two knowledge sims get married and only one of them are allowed to follow her dream?
After the birth of Russell, Tara settled down to motherhood with such ease that it even surprised herself. She loves her job a lot, the lack of fund to continue working on her Servo project had forced her taking up temporary Science Teacher position at Aloha Upperton Academy, a school for bright students with moneyed parents. She had thought she will hate it but, the job offered steady income and normal working hour which is important for her to spend more time with her husband and son.
Her free days at home usually are used for preparing lessons and test for her students. Although she was busy with her work and making sure Russ is getting his attention, she noticed the changes in her husband. Hunter is a great house husband with no qualms feeding and taking care of his son and doing numerous other household works. But lately he avoided talking to her especially when she was talking about what they love most, Science and Environment. He occupied himself with the pottery machine he bought after Russell’s birth whenever Tara was at home or when she started telling him about her job.
Tara had thought maybe Hunter was tired from taking care of Russ and the house work that he found it tiring to discuss heavy issues such as pollution.
Soon the problem was pushed back from her mind as Russell grew up into a cute toddler. She and Hunter tried their best at teaching Russell the necessary skills and Tara took the time to read to Russell to cultivate the passion for knowledge in her only son(she had no desire to get pregnant again). All these parenting work, Tara realized one day was done separately between her and Hunter. They never do it together.
‘There must be a problem’, she realized.
‘Honey, I noticed that lately you have been a little bit reluctant to talk to me,’ she started carefully trying hard to not to use the word ‘always’ as she knew he will be defensive if he felt she was accusing him of neglect.
Hunter’s expression was grim and showed no sign of replying.
‘Look, we are married. Russ will grow up and go to school soon and we are not young anymore. I do expect we will deal with problem in an open and rational way’ Tara tried not to sound angry.
‘I’m feeling restless at home’
Tara froze a seconds as her brain tried to comprehend and interprets his meaning of ‘restless’.‘I am a knowledge sim, but yet all I do is cooking, cleaning and changing poopy diapers. I know I have promised to let you achieve your dream of being a scientist but I just can’t help but felt like I’m doing nothing at home with my knowledge!,’ Hunter pouring out his bottled up thoughts and feeling.
After what seemed to be eternity of silence between them, Tara’s face brightened up suddenly as she thought of a great solution to Hunter’s need to do something with his knowledge.
‘I’m going to talk to Simone!’ she exclaimed suddenly shocking Hunter out of his moody reverie.
‘Why? Seeking a divorce?’ Hunter said sarcastically, he wasn’t in his loving husband mood that time.
‘No silly! Remember the Schoolroom? Piper can’t teach all the subjects by herself, plus I doubted her ability to teach Science and Mathematics anyway. You should teach Science and Math there!’ she said excitedly.‘Me as a teacher?’ Hunter stupidly asked but ignored by Tara as she hurriedly calls Simone to propose the plan.
