I worked hard and promoted by my boss thrice and now I even own my first car. But I came to realized I have committed a mistake that cause the loss my best friend and my love. Perhaps I still have a chance?

I like Janice the first time I saw her walking out the house in her pyjamas. She is a great listener, a nice girl and a great cook too. Crystal can’t even make toast without burning it. Janice make me felt warm and cozy but Crystal make me crazy and hot but that doesn’t matter anymore.

Looking at her sleeping face reminded me of a young vulnerable angel, like a glass rose that you will want to protect but Crystal was like a flaming red rose full of thorns that entice and injure as well.

She was exhausted as usual, being a maid in a big house like Simone’s wasn’t easy. With her I always automatically do some little things like cooking breakfast to make her smile. I even learned to cook a nice blueberry pancakes. But what type of feelings I have for her in truth.

She woke up and joined me for our little breakfast and she nearly vomited everything out after finishing the meal. The speed she ran to the toilet bowl will win her a gold medal if she was in a race. I’m old enough to know she is pregnant, after all she told Crystal that doesn’t she? Crystal told Erica about it and she told me that morning. Now that I confirmed my suspicion, I felt bad that Crystal knew it and thought she was the problem that I do not want to settle down.

I let Janice went back to Simone’s that day and took a few days of obsessively cleaning the house to clear my mind. I had a lot to consider but little choice to make.

I invited her over and for the first time I touched her tummy and felt the baby moving a bit. It was a weird feeling but strangely warming experience. I like what I felt and I made a decision right then.

I proposed to her when we were having lunch. She looked surprised and happy at the same time. She agreed and I felt a tinge of pain in my heart. Perhaps that was the mourning for my end of bachelor hood or is it something else?

Erica and Tara did not attend my wedding, which were held at the side of the house, where Crystal cannot see from her house. I had arranged with Erica to distract Crystal on this day so she does not notice the commotion. The others were helpful too, by not saying anything about my past with Crystal to Janice and not mentioning my wedding ceremony to Crystal. Tara had refused to come, not because of her condition but because she thought, I had betrayed her best friend. Who can blame her?

Let past be past I hope. As I looked at my very pregnant wife, I realized no matter how much longing I have for Her, it shall be buried and forgotten. Crystal will find in her heart to love Alex and take care of her body for her baby. As for me, I am no longer the carefree Heath Starr who only thinks for himself.

Perhaps I should really paid more attention and not think too much when I repair the TV set with my low mechanical skills. I got electric shocked and I caused a fire. Thank god, Janice although scared but still managed to call for help. The damages weren’t much, fortunately. I had forked out $281 for tax and $200 for marriage registry fee and substantial amount for setting up the baby room, which left me not much money. I should be careful from now on.

The shocks from the fire might have some impact on her pregnancy because Janice wake up in the middle of night screaming bloody murder as she was going into labor. After what seems like eternity, she gave birth to my baby son, Gabriel Starr. He has my skin and hair, I’m so proud of that little guy.

As I expected Janice is a great mother. She bathe and nurse Gabriel expertly and always managed to get the little guy laugh and make cute cooing sounds. Not satisfied with her existing parenting skill, she read nothing but parenting books whenever she is free. What can I say about her but a good wife and mother?

I can’t lie, say I don’t care when I heard Crystal slammed the door on Alex’s face but as much as I concerned for her, and care for her….

I have my own family now, a newborn son and a great wife….. What can I ask more?

PS: I know Heath sounded totally different from the last chapter but he had grown up a bit and no longer the dumb selfish guy. Hope you guys like it after that depressing chapter about Crystal.
