Passion Island

The initial feeling of being nauseous escalated to throwing up every morning and god; I can’t even read a science fiction in peace! Must see a doctor, I can’t keep throwing up like that.

All these throwing up and lethargic leave me unable to clean the house and worst of all I even throw up on the floor instead of the toilet bowl. But Ty is so sweet; he cleaned it up without throwing me a single annoyed look. I love this guy!

I talked to Tara about my discomfort and she suggested that I should order some pregnancy testing kit through the phone from Aloha. Maybe I’m pregnant not sick she said. So I ordered three different brands, just in case one is not accurate enough. All came out positive! I walked out of the bathroom paled, Tyron was waiting for me and he looked concerned, ‘Are you alright baby? Shall I send you to the doctor?’. I said nothing but hugged him and whispered, ‘I’m having your baby’. He was stunned for a while but he kissed me deeply and hugged me more closely too, his way of saying he is happy and he love me.

Tyron tried his hand in cooking one fine morning (5 a.m.) and almost burn down the kitchen. Luckily we installed a sprinkler, if not god knows what will happen to us. I guess he was trying to let me have more rest and tried to help around but really, kitchen isn’t his dream land. The sprinkler helped to control the fire and extinguished it as well but it left the whole kitchen flooded and both of us soaking wet. Too tired to care I left for another round of nap leaving Ty to clean it up. You should see how red his face was when he realized he had made such a mess of the kitchen.

My belly is getting bigger as days gone by and we got the first bill, $58. I was getting worried as with the amount of money we still left, there are no ways we can afford to buy baby stuff. I think he sensed my worries too. He settled for the first offer he can get, as a yearbook supervisor for Aloha High School.

I knew he was not happy about settling on a job he doesn’t like when he went out in the middle of the night to stare at the sky. He told me once whenever he felt uncertain or unhappy he will go star gazing. I guess he felt pressurize as the baby is going to come anytime and like me he was not ready yet. But he put on his cheerful face and went to work the next day like nothing is wrong.

Days goes by, he seems to likes his job better and I tried to earn money by painting after all he had banned me from doing all housework. So I paint to ease my boredom. Tyron does all the housework and even cook dinner for me every night. I am touched by his understanding and willingness to work hard for the baby and me.

He bought all the baby stuff that I thought we can’t afford after getting a promotion at work. I knew he was longing for a car but he was mature enough to understand the baby comes first. I was afraid at first, as he seems childish when we first met but here he is, a responsible and mature husband. I made sure to tell him each night at dinner how much I appreciate and feel happy that he is my husband. I’m surprised at how much I’ve changed as well.

After pushing and struggling for what seems to be eternity, I saw my child for the first time. A boy, I named Sean Deary. I’m rather sure Tyron wouldn’t mind I named the baby without him. I think my little baby has brown hair like his daddy and the deep blue eyes too. He smelled funny so I introduce him to the first bath of his life. It was such a wonderful experience holding my own flesh and blood for the first time.

Tyron rushed into the baby’s room and I followed. He saw our baby and then looked at me and my flat stomach with a moment of confusion before the smell of freshly pooped diaper filled the room,that must have wake Ty from his stupor. He walked to our baby, gazed lovingly at him before picking him up, and changes his diaper all the while smiling like a fool. Tears filled my eyes as I looked on, am I living in a dream?
