Passion Island’s Guidelines
This the guideline i set for myself. I know it is a messy combination of custom neighborhood and prosperity challenge. Tell me what you think!
General Game Play- In a rather copy cat manner, I’ll follow Mao’s Boreal Spring in terms of the game days for each round for each family; 4 days per round for the family.
- No motherlode or maxmotives shall be use during game play.
- No intentional killing of any characters even if the character is an absolute ass.
- No trying for babies only ordinary woohoo with ACR Risky Woohoo set at 60%.
- All autonomy for the characters shall be set at the highest and jealousy is only set for: spouses, fiancé and steady partners only.
- For couple, only one person will be allowed to hold an in game job. For example, only the husband will work outside while the wife will stay at home write novels or gardening and they are allowed to work as cashier/worker in the Island home businesses. This rule can be change.
- All family is encouraged to grow their own food or fish for their supplies.
- Home businesses are allowed in the family home, no hiring of outsiders from neighboring island e.g. Aloha Island.
- Each visit to Aloha Island will cost 100 dollar for the family involved.
- Deliveries such as Chinese food, pizza and groceries will be charged an extra 50 dollar. For example; a 30 dollar pizza will become 80 dollar. This is due to the distance between the two islands and the toll fee Aloha Island charged.
- Hiring repairmen, exterminator, nannies, and maid from Aloha Island will also cost 50 dollar more.
- Families are encourage to hire those who live in Passion Island instead of those from Aloha Island (for obvious reason duh!).
Community Lot Business
- Those who are interested can purchase land from the island owner and price will be according to the size of the land and an extra 1000 dollar will be charge as processing fee (actually the island owner is greedy).
- Workers can be hire from Aloha Island but priority will be given to the islanders.
- The owners of these community lot should state clearly what kind of business/services they are offering in the Island’s directory to avoid any untoward incidents (imagine a prepubescent kid stumble into a strip club, called Candy Shop!)
- Maximum working hours for workers are 10 hours, anyone worked more than that are entitle the right to get double amount of the day’s wages.
- All fire safety application or procedure should be followed and restaurants and night club should have emergency exit and fire alarms.
Hiring Maids, Nannies, Repairmen and Gardeners(playable)
- Islanders can be hired as the above mentioned service workers.
- Islanders nannies (playable sims), can be hire to take care of babies and toddlers only.
- The nanny will move into the house for the job and will move back to her own home after her charge grown into a precocious 7 years old.
- For baby sitting children above 7 please hire the Aloha Nannies.
- For maid, the maximum working hour for part time maid will be 5 hours.
- Minimum wages for maids is 19 dollar per hour. Please try not to have an affair with these maids.
- The gardeners will come to work every two days or by request every 3 days.
- Maximum working hour for gardeners are 8 hours. Minimum wages is 25 dollar per hour.
- Repairmen are available from 9 to 3 in the afternoon. Starting fee will be 50 dollar and 25 dollar for each following hours.
Tax and Public Areas
- Tax will be collected on the first day of winter each time.
- The calculation is like this: 10% from total fund available in the family fund. For example; The Jackson family’s total usable fund (the amount of money they have) is 20000 dollar so they have to pay the island owner 10% of the fund which is 2000 dollar.
- The tax can be paid via checks or online banking.
- The grace period before the owner will knock on your door is the last day of winter.
- The taxes will be use to build garden, fishing spot, play ground, barbeque ground and so on.
- The taxes will also be funding the animal shelter, orphanage (hopefully we don’t need it), maintenance of cemetery and even incentives for foster homes and schools.
Birth, Marriage, Divorce and Death
- Any new addition to the family shall be informed to the owner and a registering fee of 50 dollar will be charged.
- Anyone who wishes to adopt will be charged 1000 dollar per child. Adopting pet will only cost 200.
- Changing last name or the whole name will be charged 100 dollar (of course by marriage is alright no need processing fee).
- Registering for marriage will cost 200 dollar. In any cases where the mother is not married to the father, the child will be using her mother’s last name.
- Divorce procedure will cost 500 dollar and anyone guilty of adultery will be fine 1000 dollar (especially with maid or gardener).
- All islanders shall be buried in Clement Passion Memorial Park, a total amount of 500 dollar will be charged for maintenance.
- Those who can afford to buy a new plot of land can build their own memorial park bearing their last name and their family members can be buried there.
Schooling for kids, teens and young adults

It’s really well thought out. I’ve never tried to manage an economy with taxes and tuition, it’s very realistic!
“No intentional killing of any characters even if the character is an absolute ass.” Even if you get yourself a Francis? You have such creative death scenes though lol
karen: i might change my mind later, who knows?

Wow, you are doing an economy? Brave! I suck at those, lol. You’re no copy-cat gamer, you’ve put your own spin on things quite well. It’s cool you’re having them charged for things we charge for in RL. I want to see this all in play.
Karen: I’ve wanted to add a bit of fun into the game but not too headache causing rules and stuff. Tell you a secret this neighborhood is at first plan for a story about a heiress who lost everything except this undevelopped island but i thought why not start with a bunch of hapless sims first before bringing her into the pictures?
